You know the feeling when Life, in its infinite abundance, places an opportunity at your feet and you realize that everything is connected and that all the bits are starting to piece together? Well, that’s how I feel being a part of the Santa Fe Soul Health and Healing community. A fashionista to my core, you might be wondering why working with Santa Fe Soul is such a natural progression of my spiritual and professional development.

I’ve come a long way from my initial career as a marketer and retail buyer, and yet every step I’ve made created the journey that is my life, So I’ve learned that every step is a part of who I am, even if superficially the steps seem to be at odds. Fashion, social media and spirituality…how do they all fit? Trust me, they do. Everything is connected and everything is all about the energy, about being an awakened consciousness—in whatever profession you choose. And so I feel very aligned with Santa Fe Soul’s mission, which is to help people find their path to wellness.
Here’s a bit about my past: Everyone has The Moment—the moment when the cosmic two-by-four hits you on the head, painfully communicating to you that your life is moving in the wrong direction and that you’re not on your true path. It was 1982 and I was at Barney’s. I had already been working there for a couple of years, busy creating the trendiest and hippest women’s store in New York. I was getting paid to travel all over the world and bring back fashions. I was at the top of my game. Everyone wanted my job but something inside me felt so empty.

Kathy with her beautiful daughters Kara and Kayle.

And I remember the day so well. Barney’s got twelve Missoni men’s sweaters, which were priced at $950 each—in 1982 that was a lot of money. I was called down to the floor and told that we already sold nine—All I could think was you’re kidding…isn’t there something better that people can do with their money than buy a sweater that costs so much??

(WHACK…enter cosmic two-by-four).

I knew then that buying lots of things for other people to buy was a total waste of my time and talents. I’m sure I disappointed some people that I didn’t become a president of a major retailer…but my heart was never really in it after that day. I’m grateful for that whack on the head and that it happened so early in my life. Because after my Missoni moment, I began my search through spirituality, meditation, art, music and nature to find the real meaning as to who I am and why I’m here.

This is when I created my book series, Spiritually Savvy Kids. The books talk about joy and forgiveness, love and letting go, and honoring your feelings. They are all about connecting kids to their hearts and their intuition. This project has continually been the true joy of my life, a mere extension of loving my two beautiful daughters and raising them to be spiritually savvy. Through Spiritually Savvy Kids, I’ve embraced my mission in life, to be a messenger of Love, Joy, Spirit, Connectedness.

Moving to Santa Fe has supported my desire to work exclusively on what matters to me most: expanding the reach of Spiritually Savvy Kids and my social media marketing company, Knock Knock Social. I see social media as a vehicle for change in a positive way for our world.

Whether my clients want to change the world with what they’re doing, or just be local fashionistas, if it’s pure and with integrity, then I want to help. It’s this intentionality behind every facet of my business that sets me apart from other social media marketers. I believe we change our world by raising our vibration and shifting our energy towards positivity.
